ACC Animal Control provides the following services: Public safety from dangerous or seriously sick animals and at-large dogs; Investigations of allegations of animal cruelty; Enforcement of the Athens-Clarke County Animal Control Ordinances; Adoption or reclaim of impounded and surrendered dogs; Public education on a variety of topics related to animals; Information regarding lost or found dogs.
Athens Area Humane Society
The Athens Area Humane Society is the sole open-admission shelter in Athens, Georgia for cats, kittens, and other small domestic animals such as rabbits, rats and guinea pigs.
Athens Canine Rescue
Athens Canine Rescue is a non-profit, all-volunteer network of foster homes.

Canine Angels
Canine Angels is a "no kill" facility, permanently housing those dogs who are not adopted.
Pet Assistance & Welfare Society
The Pet Assistance & Welfare Society helps families in the Athens area spay or neuter their dogs and cats to improve the animals' quality of life and to reduce shelter overcrowding and euthanasia. [PAWS] also seek to reduce pet overpopulation by capturing, neutering and releasing feral cats who have a legitimate and reliable caregiver from the local community.
